Kind Ambition at Africa Comes to Bournemouth!

This year’s Africa Comes to Bournemouth was held from 27th-29th June 2025 at Bournemouth Square.

Kind Ambition held a stand to support our vibrant, diverse community with awareness, education, and empowerment—all to help protect children and bridge cultures with care and understanding. 💛

Festival goers stopped by our stand to say hello, learn more about what we do, and picked up some helpful resources to enhance and compliment their parenting, whilst bridging cultures.

We were honoured to have meaningful engagement with parents, caregivers, professionals, children and young people. In connecting, we were humbled to hear and also share some lived experiences to empower others.

Our aim was to support the community helping to raise awareness of and to educate and empower our community, so they can better safeguard and protect children from physical chastisement.

We also highlighted other cultural sensitivities that are creating Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) for children and the
research ACEs that shows early trauma can have profound and lasting negative effects on a child’s physical, emotional, and mental health throughout their lifetime.

It was heartwarming to see children enjoying bubbles and crafts while we connected with parents, sharing vital safeguarding resources.

We also gave a 10 minute speech on stage to help Festival goers understand our key message which was very well received, a Festival goer won the prize of the day from Kind Ambition for recall the relevant year of the Children Act 1989 and Children Act 2004.

Key take home messages for festival goers were:
Our Promise to You at Kind Ambition:

🤝 We come alongside you, not to judge

📚 To guide, educate and empower, not instruct

❤️ We believe in parenting with love, not fear

And our famously coined acronym to help when discipline in parenting:
PRIME

P – Proportionate
R – Reasonable
I – Implement free
M – Marks-free (no bruises or injuries)
E – Effective parenting through positive connection

Together, we’re bridging cultures and building safer futures for our children — because safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Awareness, education, empowerment that leads to action will minimise these ACEs for children.

We stand together for safer, stronger communities where children are protected and safeguarded.

Conferences

On the 26th May 2025, Kind Ambition supported an online panel discussion where attendees were Ready to Grow? Settle In. Level Up and Achieve Big.
This was not your average “sit and listen” event. We dived into Growth & Goals: The Power of Setting and Achieving — a bold, inspiring session.
It was a true pleasure and honour to join an inspiring panel of professionals and changemakers at the Elaglobal Outreach discussion on Goals & Growth.

Kind Ambition shared on the importance of self-awareness—not just as a buzzword, but as a powerful tool for personal growth and goal achievement.

We also introduced the Johari Window Model to explore how increasing our self-awareness can bring clarity, authenticity, and more intentional action.

The key takeaway message from Kind Ambition was:

“Self-awareness is not a destination—it’s a skill. And like any skill, it grows with consistent, intentional effort.”

We also heard from Roger McKenzie, who reminded us of the “shiny light moments” and the power of collectives and finding trusting mentors.

Ebi Sosseh, courageously shared lived experiences around emotional wellbeing, self-work, and networking across diverse communities, with reflections on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

Danielle Hetherington-Parker, encouraged us through her story of trade union leadership—emphasising support, collectivity, and putting yourself out there.

And hats off to Engr Chisom Anagu, who facilitated with brilliance and care.

🌱 At Kind Ambition, we are always proud to be part of conversations that empower, inspire, and uplift our communities.

Attendees came curious, and left unstoppable.

On 5th July 2025, it was such an honour to speak at the Freedom Women’s Conference, sharing the heart and vision behind Kind Ambition as ladies from diverse communities gathered to support and empower one another.

Ir was a wonderful opportunity to help our communities to learn, grow, and be empowered to protect and safeguard children — while bridging cultures with compassion and understanding.

Each lady left armed with information, shared lived experiences that helped them to:

✅ Understand why adopting non-violent discipline strategies was essential

✅ Support children and families in culturally responsive, trauma-informed ways

✅ Break cycles of adversity with love, knowledge, and understanding.

Parenting Workshops that Empower

Here are some of the parenting workshops we have delivered at home for families.

Here at Kind Ambition, we have delivered restorative, person-centred parenting workshops that empower caregivers with tools, insight, and understanding of the UK legislation relating to safeguarding children, because we passionately believe that when parents grow, families thrive.

We have translated research and understanding of some of the child protection laws into real-life strategies to:

🔍 Help parents understand what behaviour may mean — not just how to manage it

🧠 Build awareness around child development, trauma, and communication

🤝 Encourage connection through restorative practice and reflective listening

🎯 Guide parents to set clear, respectful boundaries

🧩 Offer alternatives to punitive responses — rooted in empathy

💡 Strengthen family identity and resilience through shared learning

🌍 Culturally attuned and non-judgemental space

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Build safer, stronger bonds that protect and empower children

Parents have given feedback showing they have left our workshops feeling empowered with more than strategies — they’ve left with insight, support, and renewed confidence.

This helps us recognise why we do what we do: “We don’t fix families. We come alongside them as they grow.”

Community Conferences

On 12th July 2025, Kind Ambition was invited to the 10th Princess Connect Women’s Conference in Bournemouth, where we delivered a keynote speech to encourage and empower the Princesses in attendance, Our aim was for every princess to share our message to all their friends, colleagues, neighbours and all those they encounter in their everyday lives, because safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility!

We shared about Discipline, the Greek word Paideia, and elaborated on its reference to instruction that cultivates the heart and mind, not punishment that damages our children.

We also took the opportunity to remind guests that hitting, smacking, beating, whipping, kicking, flogging as a form of discipline in parenting are not acts of love. They may be what some parents experienced in their childhood, and helping to break those generational cycles of abusive parenting was crucial.

We reminded parents that our children are not ours to break, they are ours to build up and to encourage. Therefore in our parenting, we must correct them in empathy, gentleness, and with self-control.

Many thanks to the leadership of Princess Connect for the opportunity to share this vital message with all their Princesses in attendance. We were most grateful for the warm invitation.

Community Engagement

🌍✨ Kind Ambition at the Nigerian Community in Dorset Nigerian Community in Dorset  ✨🌍

A huge thank you to the leadership team of the Nigerian Community in Dorset (NCD) – Rupert, Mabel, and Azuka for the opportunity to deliver a recent session to your members.

We were truly grateful for the warm welcome, the collaboration, and the delicious hospitality (the egusi was extraordinary and yummy! 😋).

It was an impactful time as we unpicked the law together and supported families in understanding how to safeguard and protect their children, and how to keep their homes safe from experiences of domestic abuse.

We explored the Children Act 1989 & 2004 and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

The Q&A session was buzzing with insightful questions and deep reflection, showing that the message was well received. Thank you to all members who interacted and engaged so meaningfully.

It is our hope that the learning we all took away, will teanslate into real action in our homes – strengthening our families in love and understanding as we continue to bridge cultures. ❤🌍

We’re grateful to everyone who completed our feedback forms. Here’s what some of you said:

💬 “The content is great and eye opening for an integrating father like me”

💬 “Educative session, impressive discussion”

💬 “It was very interesting and revealing, there is actually more to learn by me, can you deliver a session to my family?”

💬 “It was what people needed to hear, most have a fear of social workers, but when you have been taught what the law says, and how research shows it, you stay away from beating them, and you have nothing to fear.”

💬 “I’m a Nurse, this is an important topic, thank you, I already stopped beating my kids when they do wrong.”

We’re also thankful for the support of our Social Worker colleagues Sekai Mujeyi and Emmanuella Agwagah for your your presence and support, your feedback also mattered:

💬 “It was a very formative, researched presentation, I was impressed with your research on the other cultures, and the way you linked your practice to the presentation was above and beyond. I felt the audience engaging and reflecting on their lifestyles with bringing children up in their homes. Thank you so much, our community really needs this awareness and how to adapt to the UK culture of living.”

We look forward to continuing to support our communities and families as they bridge cultures in their parenting journey.
